nine patch & birds

As this picture shows...all squares ended up into nine patches which on their turn ended up in a bigger quilttop. And now this quilttop is in need of a border and some fabric for the back of the quilt. So time to ask mom what fabric she has in mind for this purpose. When this quilt is sandwiched, Heleen, mom and I are gonna handquilted it together. With six hands making stitches it will be a quick job!

Instead of finishing old projects which are desperatly waiting to get finished I made birds. Sorry I can't help myself!

I'm not so happy with the eyes of this one below, maybe I'll change them for button eyes instead. If you have another suggestion on what to use or how to make the eyes please let me know!

I love the red spotted bird! Very cute! While I like button eyes too, I think that the X eye on the red bird fits her perfectly :)

I can see why you love to make your birds!
Love the nine-patch quilt-top. The center blocks of the nine-patches are intriguing!

If I could make birds like that I'd be making them all the time too! I like all the eyes you have. Have you ever used seed beads?

The nine-patch is coming along beautifully. The harvest colors are beautiful.

I've restarted my blog and I wrote three posts about the Pacific International Quilt Fest in California. Drop by if you can tear yourself away from your birds :)

Your works are so unique and exquisite. I like the red dotted bird. It's so simple but yet edgy.

Je hebt weer hard gewerkt en wat een resultaat! Misschien zou het ook leuk zijn om het oog in rood te borduren en/of een half rondje te borduren; alsof haar oogje dicht is.

I love the simplest of quilt blocks and the many variations in fabrics and colors that make them always interesting! This one is great!

You make the most beautiful stuff Corry. I absolutely love the birds you make. Am curious to know what you use to make the feet, they look lovely. I loved your angel bag as well. The folks receiving it will be so thrilled.

Wish I could add my two hands to the quilt. that would be fun. Very pretty how you fussy-cut those medallions for the centers. Can't wait to see it all finished.

And I LOVE the cross-stitch eye on that one bird.. it suits her perfectly!

I love your birds! So beautiful! Sometimes a bead can make a good eye. It is so lovely that you and your sister will be having a quilting bee with your mother. Hope you have fun quilting together!

I can't believe you are going to hand quilt the quilt ... such an amazing undertaking - can't wait to see how it turns out. I think I like the button eyes better .... for the birdies. Hope you are well x

The quilt will be so soft when you finish handquilting it.
An observation about eyes...here in the U.S. when cartoon characters are depicted unconscious or dead their eyes are always an 'X' Perhaps that is not the case in your country.

I agree with the bead for an eye, or a dark button sewn with the same color thread. Such as black button/black thread, blue button/blue thread, etc. But, you may be designing a different look besides the 'traditional'.

You are an inspiration to me. All the things you make are beautiful--especially in my favourite colours, red-white-and-blue.

[Did you ever have any communications with the lady that 'copied' your tea cosy?]

Prachtige film overigens!
